California Middle School prides itself on being a full-service school that meets the needs of all its students from special education to GATE, and everyone in between. Cal’s award-winning, experienced teachers and involved administration offer challenging programs to help every child reach his or her potential. This is Cal’s great commitment, one that brings the ideal behind No Child Left Behind to life.
To meet this ambitious goal, Cal endeavors to involve children in activities that will enrich their lives. For physical learners, Cal’s sports teams give them a chance to thrive and develop in basketball, soccer, track, cheer or golf. The advanced learners can participate in a GATE program that emphasizes literature and drama, as well as speech and debate and annually competes in national competitions. Programs such as the Drumline, Ecoclub, Science Olympiad, Music, Art, Poetry Jam and Yearbook provide a chance for children to pursue interests beyond a textbook. Similarly, Cal’s after-school tutoring and AVID program make sure that kids who are struggling or just need a little extra help get that. Cal’s committed faculty and its partnerships with the Passage program and the Land Park Home Tour make Cal a place where every child can shine.
